On Saturday, March 9, Marsha and Henry Laufer hosted a beautiful evening in celebration of Toby and Itzhak Perlman, and the 25th Anniversary of The Perlman Music Program (PMP). The evening began with cocktails on the waterfront, followed by an elegant seated dinner and rousing chamber music concert featuring PMP students and alumni.

The standout evening was made possible by the leadership support of Marsha and Henry Laufer, Vicki and Chris Kellogg, and our cherished community of supporters.

After a warm and welcoming reception, Marsha introduced Toby Perlman, who thanked the gathered guests and introduced PMP’s talented students and alumni. The performance began with the second movement of Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata arranged for viola and piano, performed by violist Jack Kessler and pianist Kwan Yi. The musical fireworks continued with Chopin’s third Ballade performed by Kwan Yi, and a rousing finale from Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet, played by violinists KJ McDonald and Rinat Erlichman, violist Hannah Geisinger, and cellist Derek Louie.

Toby moderated an absorbing discussion between the artists and the guests…with a few choice quotes from Maestro Itzhak Perlman. The audience listened with delight as the young musicians spoke from the heart about PMP’s stellar faculty and mentorship, supportive community, and Toby’s unique perspective on creating a nurturing experience for every child.
